  • This bungee jump off the bridge and down the Kawarau river is the first commercial bungee jump in the world (Bungee jumping was invented in New Zealand). It was about NZ$150 per jump when I was there in Mar 2004.

  • There are more sheeps than humans in New Zealand, so they are very famous ! If you want to experience the different types of sheeps as well as other farm animals, you can head down to the famous Walter Peak Farm which can be reached from Queenstown via a boat ride on the famous TSS Earlshaw steamship.

  • View the panorama of Queenstown.
This town is located in the beautiful Remarkable mountains area and next to Lake Wakatipu. There are cable cars going up to a mountain next to Queenstown for you to have a view. Other things to do on this mountain is trying the luge all the way back to the bottom, visit the souvenir shop, eat at the restaurant or just simply relax at the park on top of the mountain. The cable car starts at 9am and ends about 6-7pm.

  • You should try gold mining outside Queenstown (near to Arrowtown) as it is quite a good experience as this area was once involved in a gold rush. Please visit my VT Arrowtown page for more information on Arrowtown.

  • You should explore the town & countryside, with its own unique charms. Actually Queenstown is very easy to move around and there are many shops and restaurants, especially near to the lake. You can ask for a map of Queenstown from your acommodation place. The problem is that it is difficult to find repair shops, for example if you need to repair your watch. I encountered this problem when I was there.

  • The Walter Peak Farm is one of the highlights of Queenstown. To reach this farm, you have to take the famous TSS Earnslaw steamship across Lake Wakatipu. You will get to feed the various animals at the farm, have a nice afternoon tea and watch the famous sheep sheering. You can even have a BBQ buffet if you pay more and have the time.
