Bird's eye view of Queenstown in March 2004

My sister visited Queenstown and surrounding areas of the Otago province, New Zealand in Jan 2001 and I visited almost the same places in Mar 2004.

I will share with you information from both trips to this natural and adventure paradise, as well as give you information on other activities you can do in Queenstown and surrounding areas of Otago.

Streets of Queenstown, New Zealand

Queenstown and surrounding areas of Otago province are relatively easy to explore and move around, and the streets are very vibrant and beautiful especially during autumn. More information and photos on other attractions in Otago are at my VT Arrowtown, Gibbston and Dunedin pages.

Queenstown & surroundings in Jan 2001

Queenstown is situated next to Lake Wakatipu, which is the third largest lake in New Zealand. There are lots of water activities which can be done on this wonderful lake and other lakes of Otago. Queenstown is also surrounded by mountains, include the famous Remarkable Mountains where some parts of the Lord of the Rings was filmed.
