Fish market at the beach of the Seeb area

During every morning, the beach of the Seeb area (one of the suburbs of Muscat near to the airport) is filled with fishermen returning from the sea with their catch. These include seafood of various shapes and sizes e.g. tuna, sardine, squid, sharks, sting rays etc. These fresh catch are sold on the beach and then transported to Muscat and inland towns to be sold at the souqs. A visit to this beach fish market is a must when you are in Muscat. More photographs are at my travelogue section of this webpage.

Qurum Beach: Fishing Boats

When you approach Qurum Beach from the road near to Crowne Plaza Hotel, you will pass by a creek with fishing boats. During the mornings and evenings, you could see the fishermen at their boats doing their daily work. There are also some nice seats where you can sit down and enjoy this beautiful view, especially during the mornings as shown by this photograph.

Qurum Beach: Barbeque Pits & Shades

There are lots of barbeque pits located along the Qurum Beach (which is a public beach), which is ideal for abarbeque gathering. Furthermore, there are lots of carparks near to the beach so parking is not a problem. Also, there are many shades along the beach for shelter in case the sun gets too hot.

Qurum Beach: Walking or jogging along the beach

The Qurum Beach is a very good beach for walking or jogging along it, especially during the mornings and evenings when the temperature is not so hot. Also, the cooler months (Nov to Mar) will be a good time to have these beach activities.

Gulf of Oman

The water of the Gulf of Oman remains relatively warm during all parts of the year which makes it ideal for swimming. During the summer in Oman (June), it gets very hot and humid, the swimming will be a very good activity for cooling off.

Qurum Beach: Coconut Trees

This must be one of the few places in Arabia which has coconut trees along the beach. Reminds me of the coast of South East Asia, the tropical region which I live.
