In September 2004, I visited Shanghai for a meeting and managed to explore the city for a few days.

Shanghai is really a very big and modern city, and there are lots of interesting things to see and do here. Behind the modern appearance, there are also some historical buildings and areas of the city worth visiting when you are there.

Let me share with you my interesting experiences in Shanghai, which I hope will be useful to you. This page will be updated periodically, so do keep a lookout for the updates !

This is a picture of me at the famous Bund of Shanghai, with the Huangpu River and the ultra-modern Pudong area, including the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, at the background

Although Shanghai is the most modern city in China, you still can find old buildings and the traditional way of life in this big city, such as the famous old city area near to the famous Yuyuan Gardens

Pros and Cons

Pros:Exciting city with lots to see and experience
Cons:Crowded and polluted
In a nutshell:One of the places you must visit when in China

I'm headed here next, will be on a round trip of China followed by a wedding in HK. Next month! Btw, the crab dish there looks fantastic.
