Schmittenhohe (about 2000 metres above sea level) is a relaxing and beautiful mountain located just next to the famous town of Zell Am See in Austria (see my VT Zell am See page). This mountain is popular during winter for activities such as skiing, in fact Zell Am See is one of the most popular ski town in Austria. During summer, Schmittenhohe is very good for hiking as there are many good trails here, with breathtaking scenery of the surroundings as well as many colour wild flowers.

Hiking in the mountain during summer is really a very good and relaxing experience for me and my wife. During the journey, we took time to sit down and relax, admire the beautiful mountain scenery as well as immerse ourselves among the wildflowers as shown in this photo.
