There is a nice Press Building located next to the Christchurch Cathedral at the city centre, good for photography and a short visit outside.

One of the good outings outside Christchurch is to visit beautiful Lake Tekapo, with its famous Collie Dog Statue, Chapel of the Good Shepperd and not forgetting the beautiful blue lake itself.

Off The Beaten Path: Mount Cook National Park

It is possible to visit Mount Cook National Park within 1 day, with impressive views of Mount Cook (highest mountain in New Zealand) and other snow-capped mountains. You can try the helicopter ride which is simply amazing. If you have more time, do stay at the Hermitage Hotel in Mount Cook National Park which will give you more time to do some simple hiking and enjoy the natural beauty of this place.
