The town of Captains Flat, New South Wales

Firstly, I would like to express a big thank you to George (VT member tiabunna) who gave me a great tour of this place and surrounding areas as well.

Captains Flat is a small and laid-back town in New South Wales state of Australia, and is famous for its former mining glory days. The remains of the mines are still there today, and the government has turned it into a historical site with information boards and old photos at the historical sites of this town. It is worth a visit if you are around the Braidwood and Canberra areas of Australia.

The mining memorial at Captains Flat

The main highlight of Captains Flat are the historical remains of the former mining town. There is also a memorial at Wilkins Park next to the Molonglo River, along the main road of the town.
