Tumut Travel Guide: 68 reviews and 262 photos

I would like to express a big thank you to Aamer (VT member NukeDoc) who gave me a great tour of Tumut and surrounding areas in Sep-Oct 2008.

This is a very beautiful, vast and laid back area of New South Wales state of Australia, with many small towns, rolling green hills, farmland and rivers.

Le me share with you some information and photos of my trip there, which hopefully will be useful to you.

This is a photo of the small town of Tumut. Besides Tumut, I also visited nearby town of Tumbarumba as well as surrounding attractions such as Buddong waterfalls, Bago State Forest, Glenroy Heritage Reserve etc. Overall, I enjoyed the relaxing and laid back charm of this area.

Here is a photo of the beautiful trees of Bago State Forest which are neatly arranged in rows. The air here is very cool and dry because of the shade provided by the huge trees.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Relaxing and laid-back area with countryside charm
  • Cons:Off-the-beaten path, vast and big area to travel
  • In a nutshell:If you want to see the New South Wales countryside, this is the place to go
