Tanuf and Birkat Al Mawz are two locations near to the Western Hajar Mountains with remains of ancient towns where they are desert now as the people have moved elsewhere.

Nevertheless, the remains are worth a visit as they are very historical and set among beautiful scenery. Let me share with you my trip to these two places in Oman.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Remains of old towns among beautiful scenery
Cons:These places are not easy to located, especially Birkat Al Mawz

Interesting ruins, wobderful scenery and... a lot of questions about the war in 1950s... Well, excuse, I don't know history of Oman (yet!).
