Leslie's Restaurant (Part 1)

Leslie's restaurant is one of the most famous in Tagaytay because of its good food, ambience and fantastic views of the Taal Lake and volcano. The local food here is delicious, with very nice ambience. You can choose to sit either in the main building where nice music is played while you are eating, or at nice small huts and also at a side annex which is protruding out with fantastic views. This restaurant is not to be missed when you are at Tagaytay, but please be careful because it is normally very crowded. I will show you the food at part 2 of this tip.

Leslie's Restaurant (Part 2)

Attached are photographs of some of the food which I ate at Leslie's Restaurant. Among them is a dish with buffalo meat and soup (delicious), steamed fish, mixed vegetables etc. Essentially, food in the Philippines are not so spicy as compared to neighbouring countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia. I had an enjoyable meal at Leslie's with my driver and my guide :)

Fishes from Taal Lake

There are many endemic fishes in Taal Lake, the most famous being the Tawilis and Maliputo which are being farmed by the locals on Taal Lake. Usually, the tawilis fish is deep fried and served with vinegar sauce. The fish is sweet and very delicious, and not to be missed because it is difficult to find this local favour at other places.

Pineapple

The areas around Tagaytay is famous for its pineapple planatations (you will see them everywhere) and therefore you must eat the pineapple and drink the pineapple juice when you are in Tagaytay. The pineapples here are really very juicy and sweet, and very very cheap as well !

Restaurant at Days Hotel

If you are staying at the Days Hotel or nearby, there is a nice and cosy restuarant next to the lobby of the Days Hotel with nice food, good views of the Taal Lake & volcano and with Kara-oke facilities as well. Very good and relaxing atmosphere indeed and the price is quite reasonable.

Mushroom Burger

There is a very famous mushroom burger fastfood restaurant located next to the Taal Vista Hotel which you must visit when you are in Tagaytay. This place grows its own mushrooms and then blend it with beef which are then served on hamburgers. You can order one set which also comes with fries and soft drinks, about US$4-5. Unfortunately now, they do not allow people to visit the mushroom growing buildings or else it will be even more interesting.
