Tourist Trap: Air vs land
  • Tip Rating:
  • If you intend to travel from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur or vice-versa, I suggest you take a comfortable coach or train instead of the aeroplane to save money. The coach or train journey takes about 4-6 hours and it is very cheap (less than $50 Singapore dollars). However, the plane journey takes about 40 minutes from Singapore to reach the Sepang Airport, and then you have to travel from Sepang Airport (which is very far away from the city) to Kuala Lumpur which will take about 1 hour by taxi and it costs about $90-$110 Malaysian ringgit ! So the airfare and the taxi fare will cost you a lot, and the travelling time difference is not much. Think about it :)

Petronas Twin Towers: Petronas Twin Towers

  • We all know the Petronas Twin Towers is the tallest building in the world, and a lot of tourists want to get to the top of the building for an unique experience. The truth is that you are not allowed to go all the way to the top, but only to the bridge joining the two towers (which is less than half the height). Do be careful as there are only LIMITED visitors allowed per day, so go early to the basement and get your tickets ! If not, you trip there may be wasted as tickets get snapped up very quickly. Anyway, you can always go shopping at the tower's shopping centre, or take some fantastic photos of the building from the outside :)

Great overview of KL. Yes, the airfare between KL and Singapore is higher than average. With budget airlines allowing to operate soon on this route, hopefully the fare will drop fast.
