Bengkalis is a small town located on Bengkalis Island off the Straits of Melaka. This island is very close to the Sumatra mainland and forms part of the Riau province of Indonesia.
If you intend to explore the Riau Islands, then this place could be included in your trip. Other places in the Riau Islands worth visiting are Bintan Island, Batam Island (both close to Singapore), Karimun Island, Selatpanjang and Dumai. You could venture south to visit the Lingga Islands which are "off the beaten path".
Hope you will find the information and photographs useful, and perhaps give your comments and ratings. Thanks. |

SLLiew Tue Nov 6, 2007 16:20 UTC Great page on another less travelled destination. Nice to know there is a Regent, delicious photo of mee soh and not to stay near the noisy birdnest shoplots. Cheers, SL :) |
