Seoul - Centre of Korean Culture

by victorwkf - last update: Oct 21, 2007

The impressive Gyeongbokgung Palace at Seoul
Seoul is a city which is rich in history, culture and the people there are very friendly. Modern buildings exist side by side to ancient palaces, city gates and other monuments.

I would like to share with you my experiences of visiting Seoul in July 2002 and Oct 2005. Hope you would find the information in this guide useful, and perhaps you can rate them or give your comments. Thanks.
Typical day in Seoul, South Korea
Seoul is a very modern city which is divided by the famous Han River. Most of the attractions are at the northern side of the Han River but apparently the property prices on the southern side of the river are higher because it is further away from North Korea in case of an attack.
Although Seoul is a very modern city, there are many beautiful historical sites in the city, and the people are still very traditional and religious. Sometimes during major festivals, you can see local people dressing up in traditional costumes and praticipating in ancient rituals which have been passed down from generations.
