Off The Beaten Path: Just about everywhere (at...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Just about everywhere (at least in Scotland) is off the beaten path. If you get a chance, visit a small village called Kilchrenan which is situated 17 miles from Oban. It is my home village and is the greatest place on earth. As I mentioned earlier on, there are not many people, but those that are there are great and possibly the most friendliest people ever. There is a great pub and restaurant called the Kilchrenan Inn which makes great traditional food for good prices and the bar is the social meeting place for all the locals. In Kilchrenan there are about 3 lochs (lakes) so there is plenty of fishing to be done. There are also many forest walks and mountain walks to do. If you get a chance, ask a local where the 'fort' is. It is directly behind my parent's house and it is a great focal point where you can look down to the village all the way to the largest freshwater loch in Scotland - Loch Awe.
It is one place that is well worth a visit!
