    • It is very worthwhile having a wander around the church in Alvor. I always find it interesting to look at churches as they are always a great example of architecture.

    In Alvor the church is beautiful, with marble pillars and alcoves depicting religious scenes.

    Directions: We came upon it by accident, I can't remember how to get to it, but Alvor is not that big!!

    • Finally, this time I found the beach!! It is huge. I walked along it for about 2 hours and still never got from one end to the other. At the far end towards Lagos, there is what is called 'the rocks'. Twice we went fishing out here. It was great fun, the first time I had been sea fishing. I never caught anything, but the fish that were caught were tiny and so they went straight into the Paddy's tank at the Captains Table!!

    Oh, by the way, you are not supposed to take your car down there, I did and nearly got caught by the GNR!!

    • When we went in August, there was an artist doing charicatures on the main drag leading down to the harbour. For a laugh, my dad and I decided to get ours done (it was only 15 euros for two!). He was really quick and quite good! It was something that I always said I wanted done, and had never seen anyone doing it before, so I leapt at the chance!

    When I went back in November, none of the street traders were there, I suppose because it was out of season. I imagine you can only get this done at the height of the tourist season - but if you get the chance, do it for a laugh. Ours are now hanging up in my mum and dad's hallway!!

     The dogs are strays. Its Alvor custom to feed and to vet them..At night, people feed them and sometimes people throw rocks at them. We were here for 2 weeks and passed the dogs every day.
