Nature reserve at Celestłn

by Redlats - last update: Apr 1, 2005

All sorts of birds

The primary reason one goes to Celestłn is to see the nature reserve. The nature reserve contains all sorts of water birds, but the star of the show is the flocks of flamingos. It is necessary to hire local motor boats to travel to the flamingo flocks.

Celestłn has a population of 6000, and is a quiet town (other than all the roosters that start crowing at 4am), with a nice beach and some tourist accommodations.

VERY VERY VERY jealous at all those flamingos - I still feel completely hoodwinked!!! Gorgeous picture of the sunset, btw :)

This looks like quite a nice little spot to chill out in for a couple of days! I always enjoy a good look at birds in the wild and the mangrove tour sounds like fun too!

This was really most interesting to read and to view. You have some wonderful photos to accompany your interesting commentary on Celestun. It seems so serene and romantic.

I didn't make Celestun. Would like to someday, spend more time in the Yucatan, and rent a car. Hit all the sites. Excellent shots.
