"Chéticamp - Gateway to Cape Breton Highlands NP" Chéticamp by Redlats

Chéticamp Travel Guide: 11 reviews and 77 photos

Chéticamp is a town of approx. 4000 people with Acadian origins. As with most of Cape Breton, we found friendly people, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, lobster traps, fishing boats, a big Catholic church, etc. and here we also found home-crafted carpets on display and for purchase.

Chéticamp also has an interesting island (from which we took this photo), and a beach (of which there are not many on Cape Breton). At the end of the road is another working lighthouse on a bluff.

http://www.cheticampns.com is a useful website which lists up-to-date accommodations and restaurants plus provides a brief history of Chéticamp.

Lats, it looks like you had some fine weather in Cheticamp! I wish we had been able to explore that island ourselves. Excellent pic of the whale, we saw some live ones close in-shore as we drove the Cabot Trail here!

We spent most of our time on the East side, cause that's where my family is from but seafood is EXCELLENT in Cheticamp, isnt it? Worth the trip!
