We were advised to try out St. Jacobs as a daytrip. St. Jacobs has a gigantic farmer's market, outlook stores, an old-time Mennonite heritage and the requisite tourist restaurants and shops.
Sure enough, we visited the market, wandered around downtown, ate at a Mennonite restaurant, wandered through an old-time broom manufacturer. |

| | As promised in our literature search and the St. Jacobs website (http://www.stjacobs.com), horse and buggies are in use every day by old order Mennonites. We read a little about them in the museum while waiting for our table at the restaurant. Being from Manitoba, it is pretty strange to see Mennonites who have made the decision not to embrace modern technology. In Manitoba, many successful global businesses are owned by Mennonites - Reimer Trucking, Friesen Printing, etc. |
