Local Customs: Attend a base ball game

Attend a base ball game is astounding for European people. The base ball, first. The game is frequently interrupted. We use to see longer phases of game. The public, 2nd. The stadium is a restaurant, everybody eats (hamburgers, sausages, pop corn, ice cream) and looses some parts of the match going in the corridor to buy some food. When the public of the tiers applauds, the persons waiting in front of the small shops of the stadium clap their hands too without seeing the game and who leads the action. Seeing everybody eating around us in the stadium, we were hungry and when we went to buy something to eat all the food had been sold. An advice, in USA do American.

The lawns of the United Nations are constantly trampled by feet from everywhere by the world. But this sign is only written in English and in French. What does that means ? 1st : We are so unruly we need a specific sign to have a chance we respect the prohibition. 2nd : We are so poor in the knowledge of English, we must have a translation to understand "qu'il est defendu de marcher sur la pelouse". 3rd : Have you notice the text is longer in French than in English. It is because we like one speaks politely to us. Ah. I forgot to ask the citizenship of the people who were walking on the grass...

A touch of exotism : to eat a French pancakes made as you was in Paris. It is possible to eat "crepes" in Paris but really they are the speciality of Britany. This picture was taken in the 7th Avenue at the level of 57th St, the Memorial Day 2003.

Ciao! | dejavu2gb Mon Nov 21, 2005 16:11 UTC Great page on new york with very useful tips... I will be visiting there next month, very much looking forward to it... thanks for sharing... | AnneAlex Tue Jul 27, 2004 13:22 UTC Isn't it funny how there really isn't an "off the beaten path" in NYC? All of the paths are pretty beaten ;-) It was interesting to read an "outsiders" perspective on our famed city. |
