New York City Off The Beaten Path
Sort by: Most Recent | Best Rated | Author's Order

Off The Beaten Path: Saint Patrick Cathedral
  • Tip Rating:
  • Saint Patrick Cathedral : 5th Av in front of the Rockefeller Center (Station : 47th-50th St-Rockefeller Center) A neo-gothic construction erected in 1905. Seems very odd in this business environment. The photograph was taken in August 2001. Now (September 2001), I ignore if this marvellous church is still intact or not.

Off The Beaten Path: My preferite picture
  • Tip Rating:
  • I like this photograph because when I was a kid there was a Walt Disney Cartoon (yes, he made cartoons at this epoch and the movy was already invented) telling the story of a small tug in the New York harbor. He looked like exactly at this one. The photograph was taken on a pier near Malden Lane at the Museum of historic ships.

    Off The Beaten Path: Chinatown
  • Tip Rating:
  • Chinatown at the South of Canal Street. At the end of this street, a catholic church lost in this Asian area. I remember to have bought an illegal video tape (Scary Movie II) at an old Chinese woman in Canal Street. After the events of the WTC, I saw at the French TV, the same woman (I'm sure) selling US flag in the street. She is a good seller.

Isn't it funny how there really isn't an "off the beaten path" in NYC? All of the paths are pretty beaten ;-) It was interesting to read an "outsiders" perspective on our famed city.
