Monterey is located 125 miles South from San Francisco. It is a week end destination for the SFinhabitants. We went there because the hotels of Carmel were very expensive and Monterey is a cheaper alternative. This harbor is known to be the sanctuary of the marine fauna of the West Coast and its aquarium is as famous as the San Diego zoo. It is also famous for the pop music festival. It is also the town of John Steinbeck, the author of "Mice and men". He was frequently seen on the Cannery Row , where the fishes were put in cans. Now the city is devoted to the tourism.

BeatChick Mon Jul 4, 2005 17:53 UTC Really enjoyed your Monterey page! I love it that you mentioned John Steinbeck as he is my favorite author ever (although most think my favorite is Jack Kerouac)!! ;) | Sandi-2004 Sun Dec 12, 2004 02:43 UTC Very nice pages on Monterey. Love the Intro shot with flowers & ocean. Also the Aquarium pic came out really well. Very enjoyable. | aussiedoug Sat Dec 4, 2004 06:47 UTC Yes I too think it is a bit rich (yes pun intended. lol!) to have to pay a toll to use the rich persons' road. Think it's because it's a "private" road that we "plebs" have to pay for the privilege of using it. |
