Our time in Florence was short due to the decision to spend more time in Venice. While I don't regret the time spend in Venice, I certainly wish we had more time in Florence. We basically arrived in the early afternoon and we on our way to Rome less than 24 hours later.
We based our decision to cut short our time here on recomendations in travel guides we read. These travel guides said that Florence was a more difficult city to "fall in love with" right off the bat. To appriciate Florence one had to spend time discovering it. Less learned here, NEVER TRUST AN OPINION FROM A TRAVEL GUIDE. Travel guides are there to tell you what is at a location, what is unique and how to get around. We both fell in love with the city, and that was just barely scratching the surface.
Most likely a travelogue will be forthcoming, but until then, here are a few highlights....
