Getting TO/AROUND: Getting to Rome we came in on a highspeed train, my recomened travel choice when touring Europe. Upon leaving, we flew out (and headed home much to my chagrin). Both the Airport and the train terminal (Termini), are top rate and modern. The Termini has a mall in attached to it. My only real complaint is the chairs at the Airport are not very comfortable or condusive to sleeping. They're some of the worst I've found, actually. The subway system, or Metro, while somewhat limited, is one of the best ways to get around. I was told that everytime they go to expand it they run into more archeological finds which prevent them from running new lines. We also took a taxi to the Airport, which was interesting because we prepaid due to the hour we took it and got there rather quickly. Romans as a rule drive completely insane. We also walked around quite a bit which gave us a true sense of the city. Of the three: walk as much as possible, take the Metro when going long distances and take a taxi only when absolutely necessary. Also avoid the buses due to pick pockets.
