Rome was the last place we visited on our whirl-wind trip to Europe. Without a doubt it is a major city with all the trappings which come with one. But it is different than any other city I've ever been to. I guess between the notion of this was once the capital of the "world" (as it was then known)plus the fact the Catholic Church is centered here, the city has a sense of self importance and history. Being a religion and history buff, I liked it. One note, I believe if you go to Rome, having never been there before, and go without seeing the Vatican you miss out on so much of what is Rome. So take some time and go to the Vatican (and feel free to visit my Vatican Page!). The reason I even mention this is because I have a few friends who have spent a few days in Rome and made the choice not to go. Hrumph!!! I hope everyone enjoys the page. |
