Visit the Peat Swamps of Tasek Bera. Its located in the state of Pahang, Malaysia. When looking for it on the map, look for Kuala Lumpur (KL) and trace your finger eastwards. Its parallel to Kuala Lumpur. You can get there by train. Boarding a train from KL at the KL station, you'll need to take the east-bound train and get off at Mentakab. From there you can get a bus to temerloh and tharter a cab to Tasek Bera.
Tasek Bera is an undisturbed peatswamp protected by the law under the Geneva Convention. The swamp is good for trekking (through the swamps or rainforest), bird spotting, fishing, river trips and camping.
When trekking however, there are no edefinate trails through the jungles and swamps. You'll need a guide to tke you arround. You can get guides from a nearby 'Orang Asli' village situated at Pos Iskandar.
I would recomend you looking for the boatmen named Hassim or his father Nolan. They are both very nice. I lived with them for a month. They both know what's arround, speak basic english and know what tourists want to see. Ask them if there are any weddings around the corner which you can witness.
From Tasek Bera, its possible to Kayak to Tasik Cini through the canals. Not many people have done this but its only for the really adventurous. You'll need your own kayak for there arent any for rent. Campsites and chalets are easily available with almost no need for advanced booking.
