Restaurant Name: OLD CHINA CAFE
This Chinese restaurant is situated on Jalan Balai Polis, off Petaling Street. I love it for the antique furniture and old photos (I reckon must be from the 1930's). Imagine heavy wood tables with kopitiam chairs and low lights. The food is mainly 'Nyonya' food (Chinese cuisines with a strong blend of Malay influence in the preparation).
If you are in for fine ambiance, wine and great local food (just a notch above the street stall prices), here's the place to be.
A serving of Nyonya Fried rice is about RM 7.50, contrasting to an average of RM 4.50 from the hawkwers. They serve great Nasi Lemak. Its a little spicy but a definate must try for those of you who can bear the spicy taste. Beverages served include beer, various fresh juices and fizzy drinks. The dishes are a little more to pay but its well worth it.
Upstairs within the restaurant is an antique shop with beautiful furnature and articles for sale. All in all its a nice place to spend the evening and treating yourself to fine Malaysian food.
Favorite Dish: Definately the Nasi Lemak. The individual dishes are good too. Its hard to make a wrong pick in this restaurant. Inquire about spicy food if you are not in for it.
