It's not about place, it's about perception

Forgotten Walk Across Victorian America

Desperate. Determined. Unwaveringly confident. In 1896, a Norwegian immigrant named Helga Estby dares to cross 3500 miles of the American continent to win a $10,000 wager. On Foot. BOLD SPIRIT: Helga Estby’s Forgotten Walk across Victorian America introduces readers to this fascinating journey of an audacious act of courage and love of a mother trying to save a family farm.

We can benfit from Helga's ---

A Case forTravel

A bold walker's wisdom for a spirited journey

From Bold Spirit: Helga Estby's Forgotten Walk Across Victorian America
by Linda Lawrence Huntm

Compelled by love, embark on worthy journeys

Face fear and prepare for dangers, but choose courage

Think and act one step at a time, believing in yourself

Be open to all hearts and hearths, making friends from all classes, races, genders, and religions

Welcome travel companions; don't go it alone in unchartered land

Dress wisely, travel light, and avoid unnecessary burdens

State your needs, and trust in others to help

Examine all negative assumptions and give your energy and hope to possibilities

Pray when lost, and carry a compass

With eyes wide open, savor the journey, pausing to refresh along the way

Be transformed by life's travels, and take this with you for life

with in you with out you

'And when he sees me in all and sees all in me,
Then I never leave him and he never leaves me.
And he, who in this oneness of love
Loves me in whatever he sees,
Wherever this man may live,
In truth, he lives in me...'

Bhagavad Gita, VI:30,31
Blessings to our yoga teacher , traveling India
Someone asked Amma, "Why should one follow the spiritual path?"

Amma replied, "This is like the seed asking, "Why should I go beneath the soil, sprout and grow upward?"

CREATING RITUAL - Christmas 2006 - Sensory stimuli as symbols are able to penetrate (i.e., find their way) to those neurocognitive models mediating meaning and signification, and how models express themselves in symbolic action and cultural artifacts. Among other things, the biogenetic structuralists developed a theory of the evolution of the symbolic function that proceeds from primordial symbol, through cognized SYMBOL systems to sign systems, and finally to formal sign systems, any or all of which may operate at any moment in adult human cognition (Laughlin, McManus and Stephens 1981).
Portland , Oregon restaurant of my childhood

Hunting down my childhood experiences

Latest trip was to Portland, Oregon to attend a work related conference. I spent my lunch hours trying to locate the restaurant I remembered my parents taking me to as a child. All I could remember was that there were plates on the wall and circular windows that looked like you're on a ship. After visting the three oldest restaurants in downtown Portland I finally found it. I celebrated by having fresh clams and raw oysters filled with warm thoughts of long ago.
