In late July 1993 Mark Chapman, 18 at the time, set out with fellow companion and traveller Mark Payne on a mammoth trek covering nearly 6000 miles across the Scandinavian continents of Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway. From the lush, untouched forests of Finland to spectacular Mountains and Lakes in the forbidding Arctic Circle it was a journey that would take them to a longitude more northerly then Iceland in their quest to reach the famous North Cape.
You've heard of Michael Palin's Pole to Pole, the account that you are about to read will rival any part of that for this is Mark Chapman's Scandinavia by Train!

I hope you enjoy this travelogue which was originally written by me as a wide eyed 18 year old. Personally speaking it brings back many happy memories for me.
