Not only fortress...

Srebrna Gora is a small town (or large village) in the Sowie (Owl) mountains. It is also a name of a huge fortress, the biggest mountain fortress of Europe, build in the 18th century. It was so peaceful and cold, when I visited it with my friend Piotr in January 2005 - according to the care-taker of the fortress we were first visitors in a weektime...

Old cable railway

The railway does not exist since 1930s, but amazing bridges are still there, marking the old railtrack accross the Owl Mountains.

Sowie Gory - The Owl Mountains

We have not seen any owls there, but the mountains around Srebrna Gora (Sowie and Bardzkie Mountain Ranges) are certainly worth visiting - peaceful (despite old military forts) and quiet.

Hehe looks like a comfortable bed! I truly enjoyed your photo shots of those trees. You should open a gallery and name it (destiny of the Unknown). Majed

You must love the snow! You had me worried when I saw the bunk room. I'm no camper. Glad you enjoyed your winter break.
