Why we went

My son's wife works as the curator of the Museum of Natural History, associated with the University of Florida and was making her annual dig trip. So while she was there we joined her to experience some of the native customs and sights. We spent a couple of days in Flores around Lake Peten and five days in Antigua, three days in Panajachel on Lake Atitlan with many stops in between. Such as Tikal (best known ruin in Guatemala); Chichicastenango (a highland trading center)
