Frankfurt Airport is the cheapest one to fly into.
I found Frankfurt boring because for a city of its size, not many people live near the city center (the downtown reminds me of downtown Miami, only with a convenient red light district). All the beautiful Fachwerkhäuser were firebombed in World War 2, so it's just depressing hanging around the tiny, tiny Altstadt. There's a historical museum with a big model of how it used to look, which is hard to live up to. Frankfurt also has the unfortunate distinction of being my port of exit on my last couple of vacations, and I have a lot of screaming and crying episodes as I ran to the gate almost missing my plane.
I recommend sticking around Hessen and exploring the countryside because it's one of the most beautiful parts of Germany.
There's a lively immigrant population in downtown Frankfurt with excellent Ethiopian and Middle Eastern food. |

Toshioohsako Tue Apr 8, 2008 14:18 UTC Hi, I was in Franfurt recently on business. I agree with some of your comments but International Book Fair is a big thing here and I assisted some publishers from Japan on two occasions. It was fun. Interesting comments and photos. Good day. | amyhenderson Wed Mar 2, 2005 02:25 UTC Maybe this is da 1 u can't remember, but if you get stuck in FFM again, you must definitely, absolutely check out Im Herzen Afrikas. Love it!
