Generally, but not always, Germans are more reserved and shy than say, people from Italy or the US. It takes a little more time to get to know people and you don't really meet people casually and make friends in clubs or in the workplace. It doesn't mean that they are mean, though, there are plenty of nice people here! Just keep in mind that it is a more introverted culture and that people are generally friendly and helpful if you go up and talk to them. actually, they really like it, so go ahead and do it. but please ask first before pinching someone's bottom

Berliners have their own way of doing things, and are my favorite type of german, although they are famous for being exceptionally rude and nasty, which is just the way I like it. nobody would really have it any other way! New york is my favorite american city, after all! if someone starts screaming at you on the street it#s ok to scream back at them and then tease them and break the tension--you'll get more respect and show that you are becoming Berlin! i would take care not to mess with the little old ladies though, they are ruthless.

No house party is complete without a bottle of bubbly Rotkäppchen sekt. At the entrances to clubs you will find emty bottles of this stuff and seeing a stack of Rotkäppchen bottles together strikes warm feelings in your heart. (Rotkäppchen = little red riding hood) Since France for some reason is the only place with the right to make champagne because of weird copyright laws, Germany makes the fizzy sekt which is basically the same thing except better. ;) It is also known as a really big East German product, so that makes it even better going down!
