Ancient times The Urawa area was first inhabited about 20,000 years ago. But even 5,000 to 6,000 years ago, two thirds of the present Urawa area was beneath the ocean. The way which people lived in those days can be determined from the many shell mounds and habitation sites found in various areas around the city. |
