London Transportation

Transportation: Not two hours
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • 'Mode': TO
    Category: Airplane
Getting TO/AROUND: From Zurich to London it only takes you only a flight of one hour and a half. A comfortable way to get there. Getting to the airport, check-in, check-out, getting to the hotel etc. takes you longer than the flight itself. But no deal, we go there anyway.

    Buses: Red Buses everywhere
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Bus
Getting TO/AROUND: The famous red buses are everywhere. You can join them for short or long distances in London. It's a fascinating ride, and pretty much like a sightseeing tour. During day hours they drive constantly, so you don't have to wait long.

    The tube: Going fast
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Subway/Metro
Getting TO/AROUND: A fast way to get from A to B if the distances are any longer. London has an excellent system of tubes, like any big city. In Switzerland we don't know this system because our cities aren't that big. Maps are every where so it's easy to find your routes.
Sometimes it almost takes you longer finding the way to the stations through all the underground streets and steps than the ride with the tube itself.

Travelcards: paying one time is more comfortable
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Other
Getting TO/AROUND: I would buy tickets for whole days, perhaps one or three day tickets, depending on how long you will stay. It's comfortable getting around "free" after.
Unless you stay the whole time in the same area, of course. In this case you can easy walk around.

Walking in London: feel the streets of London
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Other
Getting TO/AROUND: In any way you will be walking a lot if you are visiting London as a tourist. But during your sightseeing trip you won't even notice. Just think about in the end of the day, when your foot is hurting...
But it's worth it, because by walking you feel the busy going in London the best, I think.
