Getting TO/AROUND: From Zurich airport you have connections to Rome several times a day. It only takes you about one hour and a half. You may find some special offers if you want to fly with Swiss. I agree, the service isn't as good as it was, but if you only want to fly cheap... Mostly you arrive at airport Fiumincino. From there you can take the taxi or the train. It takes you about half an hour to the station Termini in the very center of Rome. The tickets are 5 Euros. Not very cheap, but I think much less than the Taxi.

Metro-Bus-Tram: Buses and the metro

'Mode': AROUND
Category: Bus
Getting TO/AROUND: If there would exist schedules (I didn't see any of them), don't believe in them. The metro normally is the fastest way of getting from A to B. But there are only two lines, they build like a cross. If your reaching point isn't next to a metro station, perhaps you should take the bus. During the day (from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. I think) they go regularly. After there are night buses, but it can take you an hour of waiting, if you already missed one. If it's cold, I would say the taxi is the more comfortable way. Tickets for one day (all buses and metro lines are included) costs 4 euros.
