    Directions: De Tham is HCMC's backpacker ghetto. If you're on a budget, this is where you want to be. Prices range from US $3-$20. Unless you're a gluton for punishment, Southern Hotel is a good bargain with room

    • If you plan on staying in HCMC for a long time, you may want to look in to a gym membership at one of the nicer hotels. Even if you don't work out (I sure don't!), they're a good place to get away from the heat and commotion of the city streets. I usually go to take a nap or cool off in the pool. It's a bit expensive at about $50 a month, but I think it's worth every penny! It keeps me sane in this land of craziness! The Caravel Hotel has the nicest pool in the city.
