ACRE,THE LOST STATE

I joined a national project operating in all federal universities in Brazil called " PROJETO RONDON",.
In this project,the students volunteer to help local people in small comunity services,usually far away from the big cities,in health care,education,forums,etc..
It runs during the vacations,can be a stay of 2 weeks to a month and even more.
I stayed in Acre for 2 weeks.
The picture is a view of the Acre river.

THE SMALLEST STATE IN BRAZIL

Acre is the smallest state in Brazil,located in a very dense tropical forest area.
The traditional agricultural style is the "slash and burn",threaten the wildlife of the forest.
Today,the locals,after having instructions from volunters,are changing the way they use their soil.
