Tourists didn't find Carolina,and it's good,you can enjoy the place in an almost completely isolation,together with the natives and the fantastic UNTOUCHABLE nature of this great part of Maranhao!!
The town lies beside the "Tocantins" river,and provides a handy base for visiting nearby natural attractions as "Pedra Caida,about 3km from town,a dramatic combination of rock canyons and waterfalls.
Don't miss "Passagem Curva",with its huge comunity of bats(!),a large cave 70km from town!

"Do Itapecuru" waterfall impressed me very much for its 2 twins falls,from this point,the river becomes very calm and inviting for a jump!
