I don't know much about Essex - except that the bit nearer Cambridge has always seemed a bit posh to me, while beyond that closer to London is more built up and a bit of a commuter zone. The northern part of the county has a favourite stately home in it - Audley End. I've been there a few times - so here are a few pictures...

Audley End looks lovely but must say all I know of Essex is a seeming disproportionate number of Page 3 girls come from there. ;)

A very nice page on Audley End house - beautiful photos of it's grounds! I was very impressed by its appearance, even on an overcast February day.
