Funan Angkor Palace: Comfortable, convenient and pretty cheap...

Here's where I stayed - before I arrived I didn't have a clear idea of where was good, so I hadn't made a booking. However, it did mean that my driver had the chance to persuade me to have a look at a place he'd get some commission for - but as luck would have it, it was pretty much exactly the sort of place I was hoping to find. It's somewhat inaccurately named as the Funan Angkor Palace, but it's near to the old market, which is a great location, clean, and at 15 US dollars a night, about the price I wanted to pay, too. Cable TV too, on my first night there I saw a documentary on Angkor on Discovery!

The only potential drawback was a bit of noise from the Dead Fish bar next door - which meant I went down there to have a beer or two instead of staying in too long! Things did quieten down after midnight though, so I didn't have a problem sleeping.
