Getting TO/AROUND: Well the best way to explore the country is with yor own car, or a rent one, becuase it's a small country and the roads are very good.
You could also go in the excursions organized by each Hotel , but there are disvantages: you have to go in fixed days and with fixed hours to everything! And for example when you in a tour to the South, is very very tired to go in a bus several hours, because it's a big distance ..in a car you have more freedom..you can stop to extend you legs or to take a picture, when you want!

In my case I was afraid to rent a car, because knew after some reading that, the the cars are very old, and and before I had the ideia that the roads aren't to good... but when i arrive in Monastir I see that Iwas wrong.

I take the adventure to rent a car, here in Portugal, trough Internet...I am very , very afraid , because it's a not a internattional agency of rent-a-car..it's a Tunisian one! And I not sure if how the car was, if it is in bad shape or not! Anf if it would be a old car, it's a big probelm , because Tunisia it's not a contry like Portugal or any other in Europe, becuase here you get assistance if you had probelms on the road..there are phones and everything...
But I was very lucky because they deliver the car at my Hotel, the car is NEW, with only 2 months old, a big car and very important , witc AC! And a get a big discount because I booked through Internet, and one vantage: I only pay when I get there and after seing the car!
Therefore I recomend these rent-a-car to all of you because I was very satisfied!

Getting TO/AROUND: Well, the best way to reach Tunisia and in particular the beache of Monastir is by plane, of course.

Tha airport in Monastir is small and only acepts charters. The distance between the airport and the village of Monastir is only 3 Km.

If you flight is not a charter, is a regular one, the landing will be in Tunes, the capital and from there you have to do a journey of 2,30 hours by higway to reach Monastir...it's a good journey because it is done in the only higway of the country. :-)

Interesting page, Anabela. It looks so uncrowded, which is always great for me. I love scenery and history, but not lots and lots of tourists. : ) Greetings from Florida.
