Ladakh is the largest of the 10 provinces of Jammu and Kashmir. It is bordered by the Karakoram chain of mountains in the north and the Himalayas in the south. Buddhism is the way of life in Ladakh. There are ancient Buddhist rock engravings all over the region. Many villagers are crowned with a gompa or monastery. The best period to visit is from June to October. Most of the trekking routes are closed after November due to heavy snowfall.

Leh has some amazing things to see and you have some spectacular photos of them, Norain. I forget what a large country India is and how varied the landscape can be.
