Pan on the Danforth: Modern Greek

  • Restaurant Name: Pan on the Danforth

The restaurant, prominently located on Danforth Street's Greektown, was busy on New Year's Eve. A window table allowed us to enjoy the scene of various Toronto residents enjoying the snowfall as they went about their business.

The platter of three appetizer spreads included hummus, tzatziki and a bannana-pepper spread on fresh pita. It didn't last long. All the food was well recieved by our guests, and our waiter and host was great.

Pho Hung: For Pho or Bun -- go here.

  • Restaurant Name: Pho Hung

Great Vietnamese restaurant, with wonderful outside windowed garden area in the heart of Toronto's Chinatown West. Authentic Pho and Bun (vietnamese noodle dish) approved of by my wife.

Favorite Dish: We love bun, which is rice vermicelli mixed with lettuce, thai basil, carrots, peanuts, cucumbers, and other salad vegitables. Add to this mix the meat of your choice, and mix in some sweet/spicy fish sauce, some vietnamese chili sauce, and you've got yourself quite the authentic meal.

We always enjoy trying asian food throughout the world to see its authenticity, and it is no surprise that this is close to home.

    Kalendar: A great local restaurant
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Kalendar

Kalandar, an italian/mediterranean restaurant in an exposed-brick townhouse, had just the food we were looking for on a cold New Year's Day evening. Pizza, pasta, and favorites such as hummus and other delicacies are enjoyed with mulled wine and scotch.

The service is excellent, the tables a bit cramped, and the place always seems full. A great place.
