Frankfurt am Main While Frankfurt is the Banking Capital of Europe, there is still a typical German Old Town, complete with Rathaus and Church. The Rathaus is on one unparrallel side of a town square, complete with fountain, outdoor beergardens... typical Germany. The difference here is that the sky behind the square is filled with skyscrapers instead of rainclouds. Grab a beer and a brat, and strike up a conversation. Most people will speak English, especially since they're mostly Japanese tourists!
Cross one of the bridges to visit "Museum Row," I managed to get into the Architecture museum, which had a special on form and light; not a typical museum experience.
Cross the Main again on UnterMain Street, and look to your right at Taunus. That tall building is the Main tower, for a few Euros you can ride to the top for a spectacular view of the city.
Walk towards the skyscrapers to see the Old Opera (Alte Oper), which was recently rebuilt. | | | The Rathous, with a tower in the background |
