Established in 1940 at the site of two Civil War battles, this national park of 5,000 acres allows the visitor to explore on his own.

The First Manassas was July 21, 1861. Henry Hill, where it took place, along with Matthews Hill and Chinn Ridge, is marked by a post war farm house.

Second Manassas, August 28 to 30, 1862, was fought at the unfinished railroad.
