The City of Alexandria

Town Hall
After living my entire life in New York City, my husband and I retired here in 1988. We came because our son lives in nearby Bethesda, Maryland. The picture above is the Alexandria City Hall.

Everyone has to understand that there is a misconception about Alexandria due to the US Post Office. The City of Alexandria is an independent city. But the Post Office calls some sections of Fairfax County Alexandria even though it is NOT part of the city. We live in the city. Kingstowne, Mount Vernon, etc. are NOT in the city of Alexandria.

We live in a large gated condo development called Watergate at Landmark. It's like living in a country club. We have every facility that you can think of. We have indoor and outdoor swimming pools. We have indoor and outdoor tennis courts. We also have a putting green, a volley ball court, basketball hoops, a jogging trail, gazebos for outdoor grilling plus other grills throughout the property. And--we are inside the beltway, very close to all the museums and monuments on the mall in Washington, DC.

Pros:"There is much history to be seen in Old Town"
Cons:"Parking in Old Town can be difficult...not so in the rest of Alexandria."
In A Nutshell:"Alexandria is a Revolutionary Era city with half soties, landmark buildings, etc."
