Bali is midway along the string of islands that make up Indonesia.

The southern region is a wide, sloping area where much of the rice crop is grown. The northern strip is narrower and produces coffee and copra as well as rice.

the climate is tropical all year hovering aroune 30°C. It is dry from April to September and wet from October to March.

Bali is densely populated with 2.5 million people. The people are Hindus, but not like the Indians. In Bali, you will find religion everywhere, and it is good fun.

The first Europeans to set foot on Bali were Dutch seamen in 1597. They fell in love with the island and half of them remained behind when their captain, Cornelius Houtman, sailed.
