Along the Corniches

Éze reaches along the coast from Cap Roux to the Cabuel point. The village itself is along the Middle Corniche. The city is perched high in an "eagle's nest." You have to climb a small rocky path to the top of a cliff. There is where the small Provinçal village is located. Winding streets lead to restored buildings.

The village was occupied at the end of the bronze age by the Celto-Ligurians. It was then altered by the Romans, Lombards and Sarrazins in turn. It became part of the county of Nice and remained in Provence until 1388. It then belonged to the county of Savoy and endured French invasions in the 16th and the 18th centuries.

After the creation of the Maritine Alps in 1792, it depended on the canton of Monaco. In 1860 it was attached to France.

There are small arts and crafts boutiques and an exotic botanical garden.
