Xishuangbanna (Xi shuang ba na) is a beautiful region of southern Yunnan: tropical, verdant and popular for Chinese tourists. I was impressed, however, that, even during the Spring Festival/Holiday in May, there were relatively few tourists here. Xishuangbanna is a land of voluptuous, mountain roads, winding sickeningly through crumbling concrete villages, terraces spilling endlessly down mountain slopes, graced with water buffalo pulling a long history of farming methods. It's great, it's green.
