If you love visiting historical places than don’t miss this place!!!

Montauk N.Y.
A little town on the Eastern tip of long Island with a lot of history. Famous for it’s seafood and I especially recommend the Crows Nest, which is the last restaurant on long island, also home of the world record breaking 3,650 pound Great white shark caught in the waters off Montauk shore. See additional info. In restaurant section. When visiting Montauk one of the things you must do, is visit the Montauk point Lighthouse, it is a historical Land mark, Commissioned in 1795 by George Washington him self The Lighthouse was completed in 1797 at a cost of $22,300.00 It is the oldest Lighthouse in New York State and the 4th Oldest in the Country. It stands 108 ft. High with 137 steps leading to the top. The lighthouse, a victim of years of erosion to its shoreline, originally 300 ft. away, now only stands 50 ft. from the water. Until a woman Named Georgina Reid came to its rescue with her new-patented Idea to stop the erosion.
Another interesting place is the 2nd house museum, built in 1797, named this because it was the 2nd house ever built in Montauk. Montauk was named after the Montauket Indians who originally lived here before the English settlers arrived in the 1600s.
There’s so much to do for any active person or family such as Golf, Horseback riding, Bicycling, Running, Hiking, Skateboarding, Fitness Center, Boats, Surfing, Snorkeling and Kayaking. And much more, Montauk is also the Surfcasting Capital of the world.
